A heart that worships is a heart that trusts.

I heard a preacher say years ago, “Anyone can worship on a sunny day at noon!”  Think about it – if your bills are paid, kids are healthy, job is intact and food on your table, we are grateful, thankful and we should be!  But what about when your bills aren’t paid, or you or loved ones are sick, you just got bad news, etc., what about then?  Is He still God?  Do you still count Him faithful?  Does your worship of Him increase or decrease according to the blessings in your life?  The other night in worship, I heard this – “The highest form of worship comes when you can worship in a storm.”  That got me thinking…..

I think of the scripture where King David was fasting before the Lord for the life of his son –  and his son died.  The Bible says In 2 Samuel 12:20  –Then David arose from the floor, washed, anointed himself, changed his apparel, and went into the house of the Lord and worshiped.  I know that the last thing his flesh wanted to do was worship, but David worshipped.

I think of Abraham, when after God told him to sacrifice his son, he tells his servants that “he and the lad will go yonder and worship, and RETURN.” (Gen. 22:5) He was worshipping by faith!

See, when we choose to take our eyes off of our circumstances and worship our Father, we are making Him bigger than anything we are going through.  We are saying what we see in the natural is not as important as what we do not see.  For whatever has your attention, make no mistake, it has your worship.

Worshipping in a storm is the highest statement of faith!  When is the last time, in worship, you simply worshipped – not asked Him for things or even declared, but worshipped Him because He alone is worthy of any and all praise in your heart?  Worship from a broken heart gets God’s attention.  (read Psalm 34) God is close to the brokenhearted.  When you worship at the mountain of the Lord (the heart of the Father – His territory – His place – not yours) when you worship at His mountain, He will move yours.  WHEN YOU WORSHIP AT THE MOUNTAIN OF THE LORD, HE WILL MOVE YOURS.  God inhabits the praises of His people! (Psalm 22:3)  Do you need God in your situation?  PRAISE AND WORSHIP HIM! A worshipful heart gets His attention like no other.

This is why it is so important to set our affections on things above – (Colossians 3:2) If we set our affections on things above, our heart’s affection will be towards our Father.  A heart that worships is a heart that trusts.  When you can worship in a trying time, you are literally saying, it matters not, the results on earth, my heavenly Father is worthy of my worship, and for that reason alone, I will worship Him. You are saying, I trust You Father, to bring this about for my good – to turn things around on my behalf because that is Who You are.  When you worship in the storm, you worship in faith, and  that, my friend, is  heart that trusts.
